While the user interface in Outlook 2016 is largely unchanged from previous versions, Microsoft has made a number of changes to the underlying core of Outlook 2016 that changes both its licensing system and its interaction with the Exchange server.  The following system requirements will help you determine if Outlook 2016 will work for you and your account.

System Requirements

1Ghz or faster x86-bit or x64-bit
Operating System
PC: Windows 7 Service Pack 1, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
Mac: Mac OS X 10.10
Autodiscover CNAME record required (Exchange accounts only)*

Critical Note: With the release of Outlook 2016, Microsoft has completely removed the ability to manually configure Exchange mailbox connections. Exchange accounts must be configured using the built-in account detection wizard via Autodiscover.  As a result, an Autodiscover DNS record must be set up for your domain and accessible on the computer running Outlook 2016.  POP3 and IMAP accounts can be configured manually.
