Once a location has been added to the WebTitan service Locations list, the DNS Server settings for that particular location will need to be updated to being filtering traffic from the location.  In most cases, an organization will want to protect all computers and devices in the location by updating the DNS Server setting at the router level.  However in some cases, particularly for Roaming computers, an organization may just want to set up an individual computer for filtering.  This article provides the steps for accessing and updated the DNS Server setting for a Mac.

To update the DNS Server settings in OSX for WebTitan filtering, use the following steps:

  1. Click on the Apple menu.

  2. Click System Preferences.

  3. Click Network.

  4. Select the network interface from the left-hand window (if you have multiple network interfaces, you may need to repeat these steps for each one).

  5. Click the Advanced button.

  6. Click the DNS tab.

  7. Select each of the IP addresses shown in the left-hand window, and click the minus button to remove them.

  8. Click the plus button below the left-hand window.

  9. Enter 52.22.166.112 and click OK.

  10. Click the OK button.

  11. Click the Apply button.

  12. Repeat steps 4 through 11 for each network interface.

  13. Close the Network window.

All traffic from this computer will now be filtered by the WebTitan service.  Please note that you will need to revert the DNS settings if the WebTitan service is ever disabled or if this location is ever removed from your WebTitan account.
