Once a location has been added to the WebTitan service Locations list, the DNS Server settings for that particular location will need to be updated to being filtering traffic from the location.  In most cases, an organization will want to protect all computers and devices in the location by updating the DNS Server setting at the router level.  However in some cases, particularly for Roaming computers, an organization may just want to set up an individual computer for filtering.  This article provides the steps for accessing and updated the DNS Server setting for a Windows 10 computer.


To update the DNS Server settings in Windows 10 for WebTitan filtering, use the following steps:


  1. Click on the Windows Start button.

  2. Click the Settings button.

  3. Click Network & Internet.

  4. In the Status window, click Network and Sharing Center.

  5. In the left-hand menu, click Change adapter settings.

  6. Right-click on the network device (if you have multiple network devices, you may need to repeat these steps for each device).

  7. Click Properties.

  8. Click on the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4).

  9. Click the Properties button.

  10. Click the selection Use the following DNS server addresses:

  11. In the Preferred DNS server field, enter 52.22.166.112

  12. Click the OK button.

  13. Click the OK button on the Ethernet Properties window.

  14. Repeat steps 6 through 14 as needed for any additional devices.

  15. Close the Network Connections, Network and Sharing Center, and Settings windows.


All traffic from this computer will now be filtered by the WebTitan service.  Please note that you will need to revert the DNS settings if the WebTitan service is ever disabled or if this location is ever removed from your WebTitan account.
