This article illustrates how to back up your SharePoint 3.0 site using SharePoint Designer 2007 (SPD).



1. In SPD go to File > Open Site


2. Under Open Site > Type in the URL you wish to have backed up > Click OK > Type in the login credentials


     




3. Click Site Administration > Backup Web Site



4. In the Backup Web site box > Check 'Include all sub sites in archive' to include all sub sites of your SharePoint site.


    




5. In the Backup Web site dialog box > OK


6. In the File Save dialog box, specify the location you wish to save your backup



Note: You may have to re-authenticate multiple times throughout the process. Depending on the size of your SharePoint site this may take a while.
