Opportunities are used to help track potential sales and can also track the activities of the opportunity by using tasks, phone calls, and e-mails. This article will show you how to use some of the basic functions opportunities allow for.




Creating a Opportunity

 

1. In CRM, click on the Sales section on the left hand side.

2. Select Opportunities from the Application Navigation Pane.

3. Select New from the Grid Tool Bar.

4. Required topics include Topic, Potential Customer, and Currency.

5. If applicable, filling out Est. Revenue, Probability, and Est. Close Date as this can assist with forecasting potential sales.

6. Select Save and Close from the Entity Menu bar.

 

 



Opportunity Reports 

 

If you have been filling out Est. Revenue, Probability, and Est. Close Date in your Opportunities you can easily forecast potential earnings by running the Sales Pipeline report.

 

1. In CRM, click on the Sales section on the left hand side.

2. Select Opportunities from the Application Navigation Pane.

3. Select the report icon from the Grid Toolbar and select Sales Pipeline from the drop down.

 

The report can be broken down by Sales User, Sales Territory, Customer Territory, Date, Rating, Sales Stage, and Product by selcting the desired field from the Grouped By drop
down menu and selecting View Report.



Closing an Opportunity

After working with a prospective client you will want to close the opportunity based on the decision. Closing a opportunity simply deactivates it and it is not deleted.

1. Open the opportunity.
2. From the Grid Tool bar Select Actions > Close Opportunity
3. Select Win or Loss depending on whether or not  a sale is being made from this opportunity.

4. Select OK.



Reopen a Opportunity.

1. In the CRM, click on the Sales tab on the left hand side.
2. Select Opportunities from the Application Navigation Pane.
3. In the View  drop down, select Close Opportunities.
4. Double click on the closed opportunity
5. Selct Actions > Reopen Opportunity
